Chapter 12: The Downward Spiral
Yoko's life took an unexpected turn when her mental health began to decline. As her friends tried to be there for her, she grew more distant and didn't respond to them.
Sachiko, worried, asked, "Yoko, are you alright? You've been acting really distant lately. Is there anything we can do to help?"
Yoko, attempting to dismiss it, replied, "I'm fine, Sachiko. Just a bit tired, that's all. I'll be back to normal soon."
But Yoko's condition got worse. Her friends tried to step in, offering help and suggesting she seek professional advice, but Yoko refused to admit she was struggling.
As the weeks went by, Yoko's behaviour became more erratic. She would stay in her room for days, not eating or talking to anyone. She clung to her old school uniform, wearing it all the time as a reminder of her past life in Twelve Forever.
Tomoko, feeling desperate, said, "We can't just stand by and watch her suffer like this. We have to do something, even if she doesn't want us to."
Finally, after a particularly worrying episode, Yoko's friends made the hard choice to have her taken to a psychiatric hospital. There, Yoko continued to wear her school uniform, a constant reminder of the dreams they once shared.
During one visit, Yoko said, "You know, I never thought it would end like this. We had such big dreams, and now... it's all just a memory."
Emiko, heartbroken, responded, "We'll find a way through this, Yoko. We always do. Just focus on getting better, okay?"
Yoko looked at her friends and nodded, showing some determination. As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, Yoko's friends kept visiting her, giving their support and encouragement.
Ayako remarked during one visit, "We're all here for you, Yoko. We're not giving up on you, and you shouldn't give up on yourself either."
Yoko managed a weak smile, thankful for her friends' unwavering support. As they said their goodbyes and left, Yoko sat alone, still in her school uniform. She looked out the window, deep in thought, the sound of the door closing echoing in the empty room.
